Sea Sensory Play

Sensory play is essential for young children. It is wonderful to see children get lost in their sensory play. Making up stories as they talk with friends. Here is my sea theme sensory play I introduced a few weeks ago.

Ask Parents to Help with Your Sensory Play

On my roster parents on their weekly turn will bring in our sensory play item and contribute to laundry. This way our hands on experiences are kept fresh and different. Play dough is a weekly given and I like to tie that in with the colour we are focusing on.

Sea Sensory Play

  • Aqua spaghetti
  • Beads for treasure – pearls
  • Tongs for “claws” or robot submarine hands
  • Sea Animals

Using tongs is a great way to help children develop greater strength in their hands which is so beneficial for pre writing skills. By using a range or tongs and tweezers you will develop strength but also the pincer grip which helps children with their placing of their fingers for their pencil grip. * A handy tip is to add the food colouring to boiling water rather than after. This will help to colour the spaghetti and not your hands. Click the link to find out more…Sea Sensory Play […]
