Beginning Sounds Learning Centers

Beginning Sounds Learning Centers aims to help children develop early literacy skills fundamental to early reading and development. Hearing sounds is imperative before even letters are recognised (although both are possible at the same time). I have designed these Learning Centers to be simple to add to each week.

You will focus on a beginning sound and have 7 great activities the children can do. Each week children will build in their confidence and phonological awareness skills. Allowing the children to practice while playing is such a wonderful and exciting way for children to learn. As a teacher you know you are being thorough and covering content for mastery. Also, being able to identify students in the early years who may have learning difficulties is imperative.

Included in the Beginning Sound Learning Centers – :

BEGINNING SOUND LEARNING CENTER SIGNS

Print off the signs and place them where each center will be situated in your class. This makes movement so much easier. As well as this you can easily assign groups of children to each Learning Center and monitor which child has completed each center.

BEGINNING SOUND LEARNING CENTER PRINTABLES

There are over 250 printables. You don’t have to print is all off at one. Simply print off your focus sound then laminate resources. Once this is set up you can keep it for years to come – all neatly organised!

BEGINNING SOUND LEARNING CENTER SET UP

I absolutely LOVE boxes and organisation! A simple way to set up your centers is to designate a box to each activity. So, set up 7 Boxes laminate the Learning Center signs and place in each box. As each week goes by you can prepare and laminate. It would be too much to do the laminating all at once so week by week is perfect.
